Dipropylene glycol (DPG)
DESCRIPTION
Dipropylene Glycol Industrial Grade (DPG) is a co product from the manufacture of monopropylene glycol by hydrolysis of Propylene Oxide (PO) with excess water at the high temperature and high pressure. DPG is a distilled product of greater than 99.5% purity and is a mixture of three isomeric chemical compounds.

MAJOR APPLICATIONS
Dipropylene glycol is used a plasticizer, an intermediate in industrial chemical reactions, as a polymerization initiator or monomer. It is used as a reactuatnt in unsaturated polyester resins to add flexibility and hydrolytic stability to unfinished resin. DPG is also used as a solvent in printing inks, in processes to extract aromatics from hydrocarbon mixtures. Since it has low toxicity and as well as solvent properties it is an ideal additive for perfumes and skin and hair care products.
