DESCRIPTION
Furfuryl alcohol is an organic colourless liquid used as monomer for production of furane resins. It is produced from furfural which is manufactured from biomass (typically produced from corncobs). So it is regarded to be a biobased product.

MAJOR APPLICATIONS
Furane resins used in the production of foundry products (moulds), adhesives, coatings, special cements, composites, etc.
As solvent and reactive diluent in resin systems.
A modern application is treatment of wood. Result is “furfurylated wood” with improved wood
properties- like rot resistance, lower water absorption and better hardness.
