m-Xylylendiamin (MXDA)
DESCRIPTION
m-Xylylenediamine is a colourless, oily liquid, organic compound produced out of hydrogenation of isophthalonitrile. Due to the chemical structure of MXDA it provides unique characteristics to systems where it used such as epoxy, polyamide and urethane systems.
PRODUCT GROUP
- Hardeners & Additives
SYNONYMS
MXDA, 1,3-Benzenedimethanamine, m-Phenylenebis(methylamine), 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)benzene, 1,3-Phenylenedimethanamine, m-Xylylenediamine, 1,3-Xylenediamine, 1,3-Bis(aminomethyl)benzene, m-Xylene-α,α’-diamine
MAJOR APPLICATIONS
MXDA is well known in the paint and coatings and building chemical industry as one important part in curatives for epoxy systems. His unique properties such as its high reactivity even at lower temperatures and its chemical resistance makes it to an irreplaceable curing agent building block for epoxy systems in those branches. It is also used as a main reactant in the production of MXDA-Mannich-bases. Other big application areas are the production of polyamides like PA-MXD6 and in curing agents for PUR systems such as XDI in where 1,3-Xylenediamine is used as a precurser.
