Melamine Cyanurate (MCA)
DESCRIPTION
MCA is an environmentally friendly halogen-free flame retardant for polyamide (PA), thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) and lubricants.
It is a crystalline complex between melamine and cyanuric acid.
Appears as white crystalline powder or granules.
Being halogen-free results in significant advantages in terms of fire safety, i.e. lower smoke density, lower smoke toxicity and less corrosion.

–PA (Nylon)
MCA is a preferred flame retardant to achieve the best UL 94 V-0 flammability rating, especially in PA 6 and 6/6
–TPU, typically in wire and cable applications
–Lubricant oils and grases
In these applications MCA imparts flame retardant, lubricating and thickening properties
