Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI)
DESCRIPTION
Aromatic isocyanate that consists of a mix of isomers, 4,4′- 2,4′- and 2,2′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate. It is commonly known as crude or polymeric MDI. The isomer 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate is known as Pure or Monomeric MDI. In addition to these two grades, modified and condensated MDI grades are also available.

MAJOR APPLICATIONS
Polymeric MDI is the most widely used type of MDI, it is used in production of rigid foam for thermal insulation in products such as freezers, panels and boards, OSB boards, foundry resins while monomeric MDI is used in the production of elastomers, adhesives.
