Polycaprolactone (PCL) Polymer
DESCRIPTION
Polycaprolactone (PCL) polymer is a high molecular weight thermoplastic linear polyester polymer derived from Epsilon-caprolactone monomer.
Appears in white pellets.
PCL polymer is biodegradable and compostable, an important feature in many present and future applications.
PRODUCT GROUP
- Polymers
SYNONYMS
Poly(hexano-6-lactone);
2-Oxepanone homopolymer;
6-Caprolactone polymer;
(1,7)-Polyoxepan-2-one
MAJOR APPLICATIONS
–PU hot melt adhesives
In PU hot melt adhesives improves initial G19 modifies viscosity and prolongs open time.
–Biodegradable plastics films
PCL polymer is biodegradable and compostable and is used together with other bio based and/or biodegradable polymers- polylactate (PLA) and polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT). In these systems PCL polymer imparts flexibility, heat resistance and weatherability. Compounds containing PCL polymer and starch are also gaining usage.
Speciality polyurethanes and other resin systems
Divers PU and other resin CASE systems (acrylics, polyesters, epoxy). PCL polymer improves mechanical and rheological properties
–Surgical, medical and radiotherapy products
